This work included a description of the river flooding process in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (RNPS), located in the Peruvian region of Loreto, which covers an area of 20,800 km² and is the largest nature reserve in Peru. To determine the river flooding process, a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model was developed with hydrological parameters such as effective precipitation (PPe), infiltration, and evapotranspiration (ETP) throughout the reserve. The computational domain covered a large part of the reserve's buffer zone, and a 12.5 x 12. 5 resolution DEM from the ALOSPALSAR satellite with the incorporated bathymetry of the Huallaga, Marañón, Ucayali, Pacaya, and Amazonas rivers generated by the Peruvian Navy in 2014 and by CITA-UTEC in 2018 and 2019. The model was calibrated with the maximum water levels of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers recorded at the San Regis and Requena hydrometric stations of SENAMHI, respectively, obtaining levels of 106.341 m and 101. 96 m with Manning coefficients of 0.04 and 0.036, respectively. The floodplain was validated with satellite images from the LandViewer platform for the 2018-2019 hydrological year. The Onda Difusiva solver was used, and a maximum flow of 56,459.2 m3 /s was obtained in the Amazon River and a maximum flood area of 12,933.68 km2 corresponding to 45% of the computational domain. The maximum recharge and discharge routes of the reservoir were identified between February and May, with the Puinahua channel having the greatest hydrodynamic influence at the regional level.
