Limited Ductility Walls (LDW) are a widely used structural system in the national building sector. They are primarily characterized by their reduced thickness typically ranging from 10 to 12 cm. Additionally, LDW usually incorporate a single layer of reinforcement in the core of the wall, simplifying construction and reducing costs. Early adoption of this structural system enabled the construction of buildings which exceed eight stories. However, current Peruvian regulations have set a maximum of eight stories for buildings using this type of wall to ensure adequate structural performance under seismic events. This study explores methods for predicting the capacity curve of Limited Ductility Walls (LDWs). In this process, Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been applied and compared with conventional methods, FEM approaches, and previously developed models in the literature to assess their accuracy. This thesis concludes that Machine Learning (ML) methods are better than conventional approaches and provide a better fit to the capacity curve compared to FEM methods. However, these techniques also have limitations such as their strong dependence on the quality and quantity of available data. ML models require well-structured and clean datasets, as inconsistent or incomplete data can significantly impact the accuracy and reliability of the results.
