Factores del Balance de sedimentos a controlar en la construcción y operación de terminales portuarios para evitar la erosión costera y los costos de restitución de playas

Abstract

The narrow strips of sand on the beaches are recreational areas for the population and tourist attractions that favor an increase in their standard of living. The purpose of this proficiency work is to determine the main sediment balance factors to control in the design and operation of port terminals to reduce coastal erosion and beach restoration costs, within a Geological Engineering approach. Concerning the applied methodology, the approach is quantitative, the scope is descriptive, and the research design is non-experimental. The movement of sediments related to the operation of the Salaverry Port Terminal is quantified as a unit of analysis and the magnitude of the displacement of the coastline (coastal erosion for 56 years). The main factor of the sediment balance related to coastal erosion and beach restitution in the study unit is the sediment contribution of the Santa River transported by littoral drift and interrupted by the construction of a sediment- retaining molon. The reestablishment of littoral drift is the core element of the integral solution of the erosion processes on the coastline.
