This work addresses the development of an early detection system for cardiac arrhythmias using photoplethysmography (PPG) signals and machine learning techniques applied to consumer-grade wearables. It aims to offer an accessible solution for continuous cardiovascular monitoring, in response to the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the need for effective public health solutions. The study evaluates the feasibility of PPG signals to extract key cardiovascular parameters and the detection of arrhythmia. An integrated biomedical system is proposed, combining PPG sensors with machine learning algorithms, with the potential to improve patients’ quality of life and alleviate the burden on healthcare systems.
