Caracterización medioambiental del subsuelo de una instalación industrial

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to characterize the subsurface environment at an industrial facility. In addition to considering the characterization, the present study also take into account corrective actions (remediations) in case to get any environmental risks. The industrial facility is located in an industrial area of the Constitutional Province of Callao and it has been operating for 20 years. Geologically, it is situated on recent quaternary materials that are part of the final installment of the Rimac river alluvial cone. The groundwater level is 3.5 meters deep. Field, office and laboratory works were conducted in order to determine the characterization. The characterization was carried out in two phases. In the first phase, office work as library research was performed. In the second phase, field work that was basically the hydrogeological interpretation was performed. The hydrogeological interpretation was carried out using 6 drilling. Each drilling reach 8 meters deep. In each drilling piezometers were installed. In addition, soil and water samples were collected for the respective analysis. A soil sample and water was performed analysis of certain parameters such as amount of metals, TPH (Totals Petroleum Hydrocarbons), PAH's (Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds), chlorinated organic pesticides among others. To evaluate the analytical results of soil were taken as reference European legislation (Spanish legislation, quality standards of Royal Decree 9/2005 of 14 January and Canadian Legislation, Canadian Environmental Quality Guidelines-CEQG) due to on the date of the study is not yet had any Peruvian environmental legislation related to soils. To assess the analytical results of groundwater, the National Environmental Quality Standards for Water, Supreme Decree No. 002-2008-MINAM were used. As expected, based on the information analyzed, the analytical results showed concentrations of TPH, PAH, chlorinated organic pesticides and volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons such as tetrachlorethylene and vinyl chloride, the latter specifically in water.
