Resumen
This professional sufficiency work focuses on the geochemical evaluation of multi-element associations to identify extensions of mineralized bodies in volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits in the Casma Basin. Diamond drilling is employed to collect samples which are then analyzed in the laboratory. The research problem addresses the decline in mineral reserves and the need to find new resources. Objectives include identifying multi-element associations, determining detection thresholds, and enhancing exploration through drilling. Hypotheses are formulated regarding the relationship between elements and the extent of deposits. The methodology involves quantitative, correlational, and experimental techniques, including geochemical and statistical analysis of drill core samples. International and national backgrounds support the research approach. Regional and local geology, as well as hydrothermal alteration, are discussed. Results are presented through multivariable analysis, clustering, and decision trees, highlighting indicative mineralization elements such as zinc, lead, copper, and silver. It is concluded that selenium emerges as a key indicator element, closely associated with mineralization, thereby simplifying the identification of mineralized body extensions and enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of exploration efforts.
